Conosciamo meglio: La Viverna

Una viverna (in inglese si scrive wyvern) è un leggendario rettile alato con due gambe. È simile ai draghi sebbene non identica. La parola deriva dall’inglese che a sua volta riprende il termine francese che sta per vipera.
La viverna era un emblema araldico (cioé quei simboli grafici che rappresentavano le famiglie più potenti nel Medioevo), utilizzata come simbolo di guerra, invidia e pestilenza. Si distingue dai dragoni che invece hanno quattro zampe e la coda a punta di freccia (anche se queste distinzioni originarie, sono state poco rispettate in seguito). In alcuni casi la viverna viene rappresentata con una coda affilata e velenosa. Esistono anche rappresentazioni di viverne acquatiche con la coda a forma di pinna.
Alcuni studiosi di criptozoologia (una disciplina non riconosciuta dalla scienza ufficiale) credono che le viverne siano che dei Pterosauri sopravvissuti ancora oggi; in realtà gli pterosauri erano dei dinosauri alati che vissuti sulla terra 65 milioni di anni fa.

This is incredibly well researched. Not sure it proves it’s here to stay as much as it is a not so brief history of 3d in media.
